Kristin Shepard is a Doctor of Occupational Therapy with 11+ years of clinical and professional experience. Kristin worked as a travel therapist for many years, which has helped to diversify her experience. She is a certified lymphedema and wound therapist through the International Lymphedema and Wound Training Institute (ILWTI), Lymphedema Association of North America (LANA) certified therapist, and is a wound therapist through the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy (NAWCO). She has also demonstrated professional scholarship in her presentation to OTAC's annual conference discussing new research development in lymphedema management.
She values evidence-based practices, and her interventions are supported by the most current research. Her Doctoral Capstone analyzed current barriers hindering patient access to lymphedema services to support a business development plan that improves patient outcomes and rate of compliance, reduces cost expenditures, aligns with the changing needs of our healthcare environment, and meets the community health needs of the Central Coast. She resides in the Los Osos and is the owner and service provider of Healing Horizons Occupational Therapy and Lymphedema Treatment. In her free time she enjoys rock climbing, triathlons, and gardening.
